Spring Gathering and Artist talk by Sammy Lee and Lang Ingalls

Chapter members closed out the final day of the Beyond Words exhibition at Foothills Art Center. Sammy Lee and Lang Ingalls presented informal presentations about their work, including details of technique as well as the thought and design processes behind their award-winning entries. Thanks to their knowledge and enthusiasm, casual visitors to the gallery, as well as chapter members, were entranced. Thank you Sammy and Lang!

Robbin Ami Silverberg is an artist and founding director of Dobbin Mill, a hand-papermaking studio, and Dobbin Books, a collaborative artist book studio. Her artwork is divided between artist books and installations, with an emphasis on process and paper as activated substrate.  In her talk, "Anamnesis - The Opposite of Forgetting", Silverberg will focus on her artist books, installations and performance which focus on her artistic practice working in geography, mapping & memory.

Artist talk by Alicia Bailey at Foothills Art Center

Alicia Bailey, juror of the Beyond Words, Contemporary Book Art  exhibit, gallerist of Abecedarian Gallery and GBW chapter member,  gave a great presentation – an introduction to the world of artists books at the Foothills Art Center on March 8. An enthusiastic group of about 40 people got to play with the books after her talk.
